If one happens to walk past the first Acad Block gate, and moves towards the Meeting Room or the Registrar’s Office, they’d see something new about the area. Two big blue boards have been put up in place of the tiny green one outside the Moot Court Hall. One of the two Boards is now the Bulletin Board and is being handled by a group of students from the First, Second and Third Year, who have volunteered to regulate the content that goes up on the Board.
The content that is being put up ranges from Reportage, Opinion Pieces, Book Reviews and even Cartoons. With the number of publications and websites, and their content, increasing manifolds, we felt the need for this endeavour to be able to put out the best of works across the most reputed of such publications and websites. At present, 35 publications are looked into, the names of which are mentioned on the top and bottom borders of the Board, if one carefully observes. The team tries to ensure that the content has a healthy mix of national and international events, and is not limited to only one area but tries to cover as much as possible with Politics, Law, Economics and Business being a few of them. (Yes, everybody takes turns to read everything including business – much to the chagrin of many of the members.)
The team works by dividing publications amongst itself, with someone getting a maximum of 3. Every person is responsible for their publication for the week, and is charged with culling out the articles which they deem good for the Board. The publications are rotated amongst the people after every week. People are required to send these articles across by a certain deadline, after which the team takes a vote on all the material sent in. The articles that are to go up on the Board are then selected through this vote. The team is divided into three groups – the first group is responsible for the editing of the selected pieces so that maximum content goes up with minimal use of Paper; the second group is responsible for all the administrative work which entails getting the edited articles printed, getting permission, stationery, etc; the third group is responsible for putting the printed articles up on the Board.
The team also tries to ensure that the content going up is not biased in itself, and does give appreciation to both sides of the debate. An opinionated piece goes up only when a counter-opinion is also available.
The content on the Board is updated on a weekly basis, with the most recent being Monday evening (6/4/2015).
With this being only the second time we have put up content on the Board, we are a very young endeavour. Any suggestions regarding, but not limited to, procedure of selection of articles, presentation, inclusion/exclusion of a publication, are very welcome. Space for the same is provided on the Bulletin Board itself.
NOTE: ALTERNATE GATE OPENED.
IN LIGHT OF THE LOCATION OF THE BULLETIN BOARD THE GATE DIRECTLY BESIDES THEN REGISTRAR’S OFFICE HAS ALSO BEEN OPENED (9AM-6PM ONLY). WE WOULD URGE YOU TO USE THAT, AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE BULLETIN BOARD.
