NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI
Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi – 110078
April 31, 2014
As desired by the Vice-Chancellor, I have observed that some students run in the Academic Block to reach their hostels quickly, immediately after classes on Thursdays. I have been regularly getting complaints from the University and also from outside as students collide with these complainants in their haste. We belong to the legal profession which should uphold high tradition of professional ethics.
On earlier occasion, said runs were made on Tuesdays. I fully appreciate that the students are too eager to eat chhole bhature, but at the same time, the food in the mess is highly infectious and can keep a student out of class for a number of days. I have also observed that while running, students’ feet create more noise than usual. This is absolutely undesirable.
Henceforth, this is strictly prohibited. No one is allowed to move in the academic block at a speed greater than 1 m/s or to produce any sound with intensity greater than 40 dB. Moreover, the students who are interested in running can dress as dogs at night and run as they are chased by guards with sticks and those who are interested in making noise can do so at night in their hostels as they wake up in frustration because of incessant biting by mosquitoes.
I am sure that the student community will take a serious view of this and appreciate these concerns.
